The first choir to perform was the combined choirs of the Men’s & Women’s Varsity Choir, with “Cum Sancto Spiritu”, followed by “Roses I Send To You”, “Jonah!”, and their final song “Ipharadisi”, a South African freedom song.
The next choir to perform was Women’s Select Choir, also known as Concert Choir. For their first song they sang a Japanese children’s song called “Hotaru Koi”. Their next song was “The Lass From The Low Countree” and their final song was “Three Ways To Vacuum Your House Part III”.
The district assessment was a success for all choirs. Judges critique each group on stage presence, tone, diction, musical effect, balance/blend, and intonation. There are five rankings which include: Ⅰ-Superior, Ⅱ-Excellent, Ⅲ-Good, Ⅳ-Fair, and V-Poor. Chambers and Concert choirs received a superior ranking, while Men’s & Women’s Varsity choir received an excellent rating.
The high school choir director is Mrs. Kristina Schenck and accompanists included middle school choir director Ms. Kelly Burcher and junior Emily Xu.
